"Sculpture
by the Sea" er
en australsk
opfindelse og årligt
tilbagevendende
begivenhed, der blev
afholdt for første
gang i 1997 på Bondi
Beach i Sydney.
Den danske
udstilling i Aarhus,
langs med kysten fra
Tangkrogen til
Ballehage, fandt
sted i juni måned
2009, og var den
første "Sculpture by
the Sea" udstilling
holdt uden for
Australien.
I 2002 så Kronprins
Frederik Bondi Beach
udstillingen sammen
med sin kæreste
Mary. D.K.H.
Kronprinsparrets
begejstring for
projektet førte til
ønsket om, at en
lignende udstilling
kunne realiseres i
Danmark. Det blev
virkelighed i Aarhus
i hundredåret for
Landsudstillingen,
der fra 15. maj til
15. september 1909
var en udstilling
for industri,
håndværk og kunst,
hvor over 1800
udstillere fremviste
deres produkter. "Sculpture
by the Sea Aarhus"
var et led i
markeringen af
Landsudstillingsjubilæet
og begyndte der,
hvor dele af Den
Hvide By i sin tid
lå. Udstillingen var
arrangeret af ARoS
Aarhus Kunstmuseum.
"Sculpture
by the Sea Aarhus"
afholdtes for sidste
gang i 2015.

The Danish
exhibition was held
for the first time
in June 2009, and
was the first "Sculpture by
the Sea" exhibition
outside Australia.
In 2002 the Danish
Crown Prince
Frederik saw the
Bondi Beach
exhibition together
with his future wife
Mary. The Crown
Prince Couple's
fascination of the
project lead to a
wish for a similar
exhibition shown in
Denmark. The seaside
exhibition was
produced by
ARoS
Aarhus Art Museum.
"Sculpture
by the Sea Aarhus"
was held for the
last time in 2015. |

Live performance af
kunstneren foran
badehuset
inspireret af
fotografen Mary
Willumsens billeder
fra 1914-22 fra
Badeanstalten
Helgoland på
Strandvejen i
København. Mary
Willumsen
(1884-1961)
fotograferede kun
let påklædte kvinder
i
erotiske positurer
og solgte sine
billeder som
postkort.
Hun blev i 1920
sigtet for at tage
utugtige billeder af
kvinder på
Helgoland, hun blev
ikke dømt men
indstillede sin
produktion.
I 2006 var der på
Politihistorisk
Museum i København
en udstilling med
Mary Willumsens
erotiske billeder.
The live
performance in front
of the bathing hut
is influenced by
the Danish
photographer Mary
Willumsen
(1884-1961). She
worked during the
period 1914-22 at
Helgoland, a
bathing
establishment
in Copenhagen, where
she took pictures of
women in scanty
clothing or nude
postures and sold
the images as
postcards. She
discontinued her
work when the police
began to show
interest in
newsstands selling
nude postcards. |
