Rosenholm slot påbegyndtes i 1559 af
rigskansler Jørgen Rosenkrantz. Slottet fik sin endelige form i 1580.
Lysthuset Pirkentavl i Slotsparken betegnes "Jyllands første
universitet" fordi Holger Rosenkrantz kaldet "Holger den lærde"
(1574-1642) formodedes at have holdt skole her for unge adelsmænd og
vordende præster.
Hornslet
I Pirkentavl boede rigsråden grev
Rabsenfuchs
og dennes enfoldige brorsøn junker Juks, og
i stalden boede Valentin. |

Rosenholm Castle
was founded in 1559 by Chancellor Jørgen
Rosenkrantz. The castle got its final form in 1580. In the park is the
renaissance pavilion Pirkentavl called "The first university in Jutland"
because Holger Rosenkrantz, a famous Lutheran theologian, known as "Holger the Learned" kept a private academy at Rosenholm, and Pirkentavl
was said to be used as a classroom.
Hornslet
Church located a few km from the castle is referred to as The
Rosenkrantz Mausoleum. |
