(Kapellbrücke),
opkaldt efter det nærliggende Skt. Peters Kapel, er
Luzerns vartegn.
opført i 1333. Den er 170 m lang og krydser floden
Reuss diagonalt.
|
(Kapellbrücke), named after the
nearby St Peter's Chapel, is the landmarks
of Lucerne. The bridge and water tower were part of
the city fortifications. The Chapel Bridge, Europe's
oldest surviving wooden bridge,
is a covered footbridge which dates back to 1333.
It is 170 meters in length and crosses the River
Reuss diagonally. Inside the bridge is a series
of triangular paintings depicting events from
Lucerne's history executed in the 17th century by
the local painter Hans Heinrich Wägmann. Many of the
paintings were destroyed along with most of the
bridge in a fire on 18 August 1993. The bridge was
reconstructed the following year. |
